Chief Principal Richard Mibei rallies 522 Form Three candidates for an ambitious academic journey with the last 8-4-4 cohort

Kericho High National School is not waiting for the KCSE 2027 examination season to arrive before beginning the battle for academic excellence. The school has already sounded the academic war drums, with its leadership putting in place strategies aimed at producing a 10.318+ mean score in the KCSE 2027 examination with the last 8-4-4 cohort.

At the centre of this ambitious academic journey is the school's Chief Principal, Mr. Richard Mibei, whose leadership is already positioning the institution for an academic showdown with fellow national-school giants.

It is against this background that Mr. Mibei invited Mwalimu Malata Benson, a national academic mentor and motivational speaker, to engage the school's 522 Form Three students who are preparing to become the KCSE 2027 candidates.

The mentorship programme focused on critical areas including effective study habits, content retention, academic discipline, preparation for KCSE, academic balancing, target setting and practical techniques for transforming weak grades into quality grades.

The message was clear: excellence is not achieved by waiting for examination day. It is built through disciplined preparation, consistency, teamwork and a deliberate academic culture.

DISCIPLINE THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES

For Mwalimu Malata Benson, the discipline demonstrated by the students during the mentorship session was particularly encouraging.

The students remained focused throughout the engagement, actively taking notes and participating in the session. There was minimal unnecessary movement, and even students seated at the back of the hall maintained concentration throughout the programme.

Such discipline, coupled with a competitive spirit, provides an important foundation for the academic journey ahead.

TWO INTENSIVE SESSIONS WITH THE MENTOR

The invitation by Chief Principal Mr. Richard Mibei resulted in an exceptionally intensive engagement with the school community.

Mwalimu Malata Benson conducted a prefect training and induction session from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., equipping the school's student leaders with skills and values necessary for effective leadership.

This was followed by another extensive session with the Form Three students from 2:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The two sessions demonstrated the school's commitment to developing both responsible student leadership and a strong academic culture.

The Form Three session was particularly significant because these students are expected to carry the academic ambitions of Kericho High National School into the KCSE 2027 examination.
