I have been forced to accept the painful reality in order to pen down this condolence message to you, Dad Essau Oyulu.

You remain among the best dads that God gave to the Ikuruku Clan of Maira Village. You were not just a neighbour or an acquaintance; you were a true, genuine and trusted friend to our family.

I will forever remember those long hours you spent sitting with my dad under the jank tree (ofenesi). Sometimes, it was fascinating to find the two of you sitting there quietly. You could talk without saying much, and somehow, you understood each other even in silence. That friendship was unique and deeply rooted.

But now, Dad Essau, you have decided to leave us early, without even saying goodbye.

Who will now sit with my dad under the jank tree?

Whom have you tasked to continue giving our family the love, friendship and comfort that you gave us?

You came into our home as a friend, but you became part of our family. Your presence brought warmth, trust and a sense of belonging.

Today, we have not only lost a father. We have lost a true friend, a brother and a man who stood with our family.

Your contribution to our family's journey will never be forgotten. In 1991, you connected my dad to a job opportunity in Mombasa, a connection that remained significant until 2008. That was more than a favour; it was an act of friendship whose impact touched our family's life.

Dad Essau, your footprints are firmly planted in the history of our family. We shall remember your kindness, your friendship, your generosity and the countless moments you shared with my dad and our family.
