🚨 BREAKING NEWS FROM NAMBALE: KEVIN OKWARA CHOOSES LEADERSHIP, DEVELOPMENT AND THE RUTO AGENDA

NAMBALE, BUSIA COUNTY — Political temperatures are rising in Nambale Constituency following a major political declaration by former ODM Nambale parliamentary candidate Kevin Okwara, who has publicly announced his decision to support President William Samoei Ruto for a second and final term.

The declaration is already generating political conversation across Nambale, Busia County and beyond, with Okwara positioning himself as a vocal advocate for issue-based politics, leadership and development.

Okwara, who unsuccessfully contested the Nambale parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket in the 2022 General Election, has now dramatically shifted his political position, declaring:

«“LINDA MWANANCHI — NIMESHUKA.”»

His message is not simply about abandoning one political camp for another. It is a declaration that, in his view, development, national interests and strategic leadership must rise above personal political loyalties.

Okwara has acknowledged his previous support for Hon. Edwin Sifuna, whom he says he still considers a politician with a future in national leadership. However, he argues that Kenya's political journey should not be reduced to individual personalities.

«“Kenya is bigger than any one individual. Nambale is bigger than Ken Okwara. Busia is bigger than any political movement.”»

A NEW POLITICAL ASSET FOR THE RUTO AGENDA?

Okwara's political repositioning could significantly alter the political conversation in Nambale.

The Eldoret-based businessman has built a reputation around entrepreneurship and education, with interests spanning hospitality, primary education, senior schools and colleges. His business and social networks have also given him connections beyond Busia, potentially providing a wider platform from which to champion the government's agenda.

His supporters view him as a potentially important grassroots mobiliser and communicator of the UDA agenda, not only within Nambale but also across Busia County and the wider Western Kenya region.

His strength, they argue, lies in his ability to combine business networks, educational interests, youthful political energy and issue-based engagement.

POLITICAL SHOCKWAVES IN NAMBALE

The announcement is expected to trigger fresh political calculations within Nambale.

Attention is now likely to turn to the relationship between Okwara's emerging political platform and that of the incumbent Nambale MP, Hon. Geoffrey Mulanya.

Some political observers in the constituency are already interpreting Okwara's declaration as a potential challenge to the existing political establishment, particularly over who will take the lead in openly championing the Ruto administration's agenda in Nambale.

The emerging narrative is therefore less about personal confrontation and more about who has the political capacity, networks and grassroots influence to define the constituency's development conversation heading into 2027.

A BATTLE OF POLITICAL SUPREMACY?

With the 2027 General Election approaching, Okwara's entry into the pro-Ruto political space could create an intriguing contest for influence.

Will the incumbent parliamentary leadership retain its grip on the political conversation?

Or will Okwara's new alliance with the Ruto administration create a parallel political centre of gravity in Nambale?

Those questions are now beginning to dominate political discussions.

What is clear is that Kevin Okwara has chosen a side.

He is presenting his decision as a choice for leadership, development, strategic politics and the national interest, rather than a personal political vendetta.

His message to Nambale is simple:

«“Pole pole, tutazungumza.”»

And his political declaration is even simpler:

«“LINDA MWANANCHI, NIMESHUKA.”»

THE WESTERN KENYA QUESTION

Beyond Nambale, Okwara's repositioning could attract attention within Western Kenya's evolving political landscape.

His stated intention to market the UDA and Ruto administration agenda gives him an opportunity to engage communities on issues of development, education, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, youth empowerment and national leadership.

Whether this translates into a significant political movement remains to be seen.

But one thing is already evident:

The political chessboard in Nambale is moving.

And as 2027 approaches, the battle for influence, political visibility and the development narrative is likely to become increasingly intense.
